Mayor Addresses Election Parking

Printed in entirety from Mayor Erwin.

To the Citizens of La Vergne:

I understand there were some parking issues at the Civic Auditorium during voting Tuesday.

First of all, I want to apologize for the confusion and am upset that some voters left without voting after being told by La Vergne Police Department officers to move their cars or they would be towed. We do not want to deny anyone the right to vote, especially over a parking situation where the space for parking is very limited.

While we have little control over County, State and Federal elections as far as the way they are run, please note that I am going to get with LPD Chief Steve Lindsay to discuss exactly what happened with parking on Tuesday and to find a solution so that this problem does not occur in the future.

Sincerely,

Ronnie Erwin
Mayor
City of La Vergne
