Public Meeting/City Infrastructure

Are you concerned about the growth in La Vergne? Are you concerned that maybe our roads and infrastructure may or may not be able to handle new traffic? Does the thought of higher taxes appeal to you? How about overcrowding schools?

I'm very concerned! The growth in La Vergne is fanominal. There has been so much growth since the normal census, La Verge is now in the process of it's Second special census. That's three census's in 6 years. If you do math well it boils down to one census every two years. That's how big La Vergne is!

Did you feel that? You guessed it, that's a pot hole you just hit. How many pot holes do you go over trying to get out to murfreesboro Road, Old Nashville Hwy or Stones River Road? Me, Myself, and I hit at least a dozen. Multiply that by how many times you come and go. Yeah, that's way more tire repair and front end alignments than I want to pay for.

Have you visited our schools here in La Vergne? If you haven't, you should! They are crammed into classrooms and portables like sardines!

Sounds like I'm against growth doesn't it? In a way, I am. However, we need to step back and take a look at these things. For example, I know of two areas up for rezoning. One area off of Sand Hill road and the other off Hollandale Rd. Both of these areas are currently zoned agriculture. A request has been made to change these areas to residential. I'm not all that thrilled about having these beautiful sanctuaries trampled over. I'm not thrilled about the deer the raccoons, squirrels and yes even the skunks being run out of there natural habitat. I really don't think our roads and schools can support more residents at this time. Maybe sometime in the future it can.

If you feel the same way or you want more information on the rezoning issues, you can contact La Vergne codes dept @ 615-213-8702 ext 29. Also tuesday, March 7th 2006@6:45pm there will be a public meeting at city hall. All you have to do is show up.
