Citizens - Volunteer for Boards

From the cit of LaVergne, "There is a need for residents of the City of La Vergne to serve on city boards. Six vacancies currently exist on the new Stormwater Advisory Board while two exist on the Board of Construction and Appeals, said Bruce Richardson, La Vergne City Recorder. In addition, there are openings on the Employee Review Board, the Greenway Committee, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and the Rutherford County Solid Waste Ad Hoc Committee. It’s preferred that board members be citizens of La Verge, Richardson said. “The Employee Review Board requires that the members of the board be citizens of La Vergne, but the others just prefer that the member be a citizens of La Vergne.” That allows the boards to be filled in a timely manner, he added. In order to apply for an open board, applicants can pick up an application at Richardson’s office inside La Vergne City Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or by going on-line at http://www.lavergne.org and clicking on the City Recorder link under Departments. The applicants are then reviewed and are chosen by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen at the next month’s council meeting. Board terms vary from board to board and position to position. For more information, please contact Richardson at 793-6295."
